For nearly a year now, every Thursday I've featured a bookish photograph -- sometimes of a posh library in someone's home, sometimes of a bookstore, sometimes of an unusual bookcase -- but I've recently happened upon a site, courtesy of Twitter, that gathers many more such intriguing photos: bookshelfporn.com. It's terrific, and I think you'll enjoy it. Add it to your bookmarks!
For the foreseeable future, I'm going to focus on a different topic on Thursdays. I've noticed in my blog stats that my page views hit the roof every time I discuss my career as a divorce lawyer, and that those posts generate a significantly greater number of comments, emails, etc. I get similar results on Twitter. I'm a bit bemused by this, as I make no bones about the fact that I am at best ambivalent about my work. (Let's be honest: I hate it.) However, the stats don't lie -- YOU are obviously interested in it. So, each Thursday I will feature a vignette -- a story from the front lines, as it were -- from my practice. Don't get too excited: There will be no celebrity name-dropping, identities will be masked to protect the guilty, and no confidential information will be revealed. But it will be amusing. Or informative. Or a tad frightening. Or perhaps all three. Please do check in next Thursday.

Sounds like fun -- and I love bookshelfporn.com! If I could someday have a library or book collection worthy of being featured there, I'd be a happy girl.

Love the bookshelfporn.com! You always post the most interesting sites and photos. I really enjoy reading your blog! Maybe you should take some time off from "lawyering" and write a book....

Since I adore those episodes of Law & Order which are clearly based on real cases (actually I just adore Law & Order anyway) I look forward to your posts!
I think the reason we are fascinated by your legal posts is that it seems such a glamorous world even though, having worked in professions which also appear glamorous (newspapers and PR), I know full well that the reality for 99.7% of the time is just sheer hard work!
Love bookshelfporn BTW - great fun!

Hello Carol: Thanks for your kind words! I'm delighted you enjoy my blatherings. And some time off from lawyering is my fondest wish!
Hi Liz F: Ah yes, the glamour....LOL! You are correct, of course, that's it's mainly one long dull slog. Glad you enjoy bookshelfporn.
Hi BloomsburyBell: Thanks for stopping by.

Talk about guilty pleasure! I'm slightly ashamed of this, and my interest is entirely prurient -- but -- Oh, Goody! (Since I won't be exposed to the heartache, of which I know there is much,)

Great idea - we love a little bit of sauciness here in the blog readers world. Also - LOVE bookshelfporn. I discovered it a few months ago when trying to figure out what to do with a little nook in my new bedroom.

Hi Martina: Well, hold onto your hats, so to speak -- I've got plenty of sauciness (and much, much worse) to relate. LOL! And I'm so glad you like bookshelfporn.com -- as soon as I discovered it, I thought "my little Thursday posts can't compete with THAT," and I decided to switch things up. Thanks for stopping by!
