I have long been a fan of Dennis Lehane, so today when his latest novel, Moonlight Mile, was published, I bought it on my Kindle. Featuring detective couple Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro, this is a sequel of sorts to Lehane's Gone, Baby, Gone -- twelve years have passed, and the now 16-year-old Amanda McCready has gone missing again. The investigation of her disappearance gives Patrick plenty of time to re-visit his decision to rescue four-year-old Angie from her loving kidnappers and return her to her neglectful mother.
I can't wait to delve into this one.

Why have I not read any Dennis Lehane yet!! Argh.

I'm a fan of the Kenzie/Gennaro series and was sad that he had to go the stand-alone route to increase his sales. Mystic River just didn't seem as fun, although fun is not the right word for his masterpiece, Gone Baby Gone.
I hope this one is good and look forward to hearing what you think.

Hi Coffee and a Book Chick: I don't know! Get started immediately! Joking aside, I think you should start with Gone, Baby, Gone and then if you like it try this new one. Then you can loop back and read Mystic River. Happy reading!
Hi Christine: I'm not surprised that we both prefer the Kenzie/Gennaro series to the stand-alones, although I thought Mystic River was terrific on its own. I can just "sense" that this new one is going to be a hell of a read.

Mystic River was left behind by a previous guest of a hotel I visited. Having finished my book, I still had a day's holiday remaining and picked up Mystic River, putting it down completed at 3am the morning before my flight home. Incredible book, but I wish I hadn't tainted my memory by watching the dire film adaptation.

Hi Anthony: I also loved the novel Mystic River, but the movie was not my cup of tea. (Although I'm not a fan of Sean Penn or Tim Robbins, so my view thereof was tainted at best.) Thanks for stopping by.

I will have to check and see if this is out in the UK as I really enjoyed the Kenzie and Gennaro books and was disappointed when I realised I had read the lot!

Hi LizF: I do hope you enjoy it. I'm planning on hibernating with it this weekend.

The theory is that I will be hibernating with Faithful Place and War & Peace this weekend - sadly I suspect that other people in the house will have other plans for my time
Must learn to say 'No' and stick to it!

Oh! I just got this, and then at the airport I grabbed a copy of Gone, Baby, Gone (I'd read all the books I packed and had limited selection in the mass-market aisle of a Hudson News, so I was thrilled to find it). Halfway through the first, and can't wait to start Moonlight Mile.

Hi Kerry! Sounds like a close call -- running low on reading material -- at the mercy of an airport newsstand -- and then voila! Hope you enjoy it.
